Yoga for Relaxation and Stress Management
Slow movement, simple breathing techniques and guided relaxation to help you pause and unwind.
Slow down
The evening class is designed as a transition: from work, screens and busy thoughts towards a quieter evening. Movements are slow, many poses are on the floor, and there is plenty of time to rest.
A calm routine before bed is one of the things the NHS suggests can help people prepare for sleep, alongside options such as breathing exercises and reading. An evening yoga class can be part of that routine for some people, although we cannot promise it will change how you sleep.
What to expect
Settling in, with a chance to notice how the day has left you feeling.
Gentle stretches and slow movement, mostly seated or lying.
A simple, steady breathing practice.
A long guided relaxation. You can listen without looking at the screen.

You will need
Helpful but optional
Evening classes are live on Zoom. As the NHS suggests avoiding screens in the hour before bed, you are welcome to turn your screen brightness down and simply listen during the floor-based sections and the final relaxation.
If lying flat is uncomfortable, you can rest with your knees bent and feet on the floor, with a cushion under your knees, or seated in a supported position.
Avoid a heavy meal shortly before class. Move slowly as you get up after the final relaxation, especially if you tend to feel light-headed.
Questions
Some people find that a calm routine, including gentle movement and breathing, helps them wind down. Sleep is affected by many things, though, and we cannot promise a particular result. If you have ongoing sleep problems, speak to your GP or another healthcare professional.

It happens. The class ends with a gentle cue to come back, so you will not be left wondering whether it is over.
